"42 is just old people 6 7"

And... well... yeah. Can't really argue.

That Samsung XR presentation was so...uninteresting. Its was basically a Gemini ad. Heck, they spent 5-6 just opening a web browser and telling Veo to make a video. You can do that anywhere!

The lack of "AI" (sans the few mentioned of Apple Intelligence) was the best part of that whole Apple event. Jeesh, that was nice. It's in stark contrast to Google's which was AIAIAIAI and, in general, disappointing.

I let my YT Premium subscription lapse just to see what life is like for unpaid folks. It is pure madness. I do not have YT history, web activity, or location activity enabled, and the ads were horrendous. Viewing a video overwhelms you with 3 ads, filling almost the entirety of your (mobile) screen

While masked agents were violently attacking a delivery worker this morning, bystanders repeatedly asked to see their badge numbers but they refused.

Bystander: You guys are ruining this country, you know that, right?

Agent: Liberals already ruined it.

Cool...so Google will start training Gemini on your files/screenshots/etc., and the only way to turn it off to to turn off App Activity which breaks basic integration with, say, Google Home. That mean Drive content can be used to since Gemini is in Drive and that data is uploaded to Google servers?

I walked through an Apple store today and it was essentially a big billboard for the F1 movie.

Ben and Jerry's pints were half off at the grocery store today. It's going to be a good weekend.

I don't eat meat at home to try and offset my other carbon intensive hobbies but big tech can just pump out a whole countries worth of cow farts in the name of AI. Wth.

Tariff headlines should be more realistic and read something like:

Trump announces 25% price increase on US citizens who buy products from US companies that import products from <insert country here>.

What is the deal with Gemini and code generation? I asked it to generate some C++ using 1.5 Pro, 2.0 Advanced, and 2.0 Flash all failed and said they can only process text.

Meanwhile, ChatGPT and GH Copilot provided what I needed immediately.

Google Home/Assistant has gotten annoyingly bad. 1/3rd of my requests just just don't get recognized and I have to repeat them. It randomly says smart home devices are offline. It'll fail midway through playing podcasts/news. The only thing that's still reliable is casting.

So I finally bought a Home Assistant Yellow and a Pi CM5 to go with it. I went to mount the CM5 and the screws included with the Yellow had heads that were slightly too big…and I popped off one of the tiny chips on the CM5. Then I tried to solder said tiny chip…and I’m pretty sure I ruined it. :(

I know Google Maps has long had sponsored ads...but they've mostly been in the form of little custom pins on the map (like a like McD's icon on the map or something). Now I get sponsored results when searching maps. Yay.

All this time I thought changing my DNS settings in Chrome actually made it use my preferred DNS but NOOOO. Today I learned that async DNS has been sitting in the background resolving whatever it wants.

I was so naive. I miss cool Google.

Streaming has become a worse version of cable.

With cable:
- Pay for the pipe (cable connection) which has the channels you want to watch and you can pay to upgrade to more channels)
- Watch channels, get ads
