Does it? Seems like just another thing that will go off without any consequences

This is illegal. Doesn't NY have like...a lot of cops?

Obama's made hundreds of millions of dollars since leaving office. Only thing he's worried about is protecting his brand.

But not people who want things like universal healthcare, childcare, or college, right? Those people are extremists! But we can invite a few bigots into the tent; that's cool.

Your main issue with it is that Congress didn't consent...ok...

Retiring Senator surely wouldn't mind if we had some hearings on his daughters price fixing scandal

Sounds like the party of 27% approval did everything right and we should stay the course with no critique whatsoever. What a relief
May 28, 2025 at 2:39 PM
Homie you already told on yourself by claiming that "magic" is the only way a president and Senate Majority Leader can shove an obstructionist in line. Tell that shit to LBJ lmao.
May 28, 2025 at 2:29 PM
And I stand by it. That's different from your framing, but ultimately, they had to choose: A) make Joe Manchin REALLY uncomfortable or B) let a bunch of kids fall through the cracks.

A choice was made. Not by every Democrat. Just the ones whose job it is to pull people in line.

Nope. That's a fun straw man though. The narrative I'm selling is that leadership was feckless and weak and couldn't/wouldn't exert the kind of pressure on the recalcitrant members that it needed to, with disastrous results. Hardly controversial. Not even a hot take.

Imagine if any member of Dem leadership had the fortitude in 2022 to go to war for the CTC. Genuinely wonder if the election ends up playing out how it did.

I've been practicing law for 15 years. I'm not gonna do pop quiz time with some rando. Yes. It would be an insane understatement to say that I'm very familiar with the moderate successes and giant missed opportunities of the Inflation Reduction Act. And yeah. $35 is still too damn high.

Jesus Christ dude. Yes
May 27, 2025 at 8:11 PM
If they cast the deciding vote to nuke elements of the elected Democratic president's legislative agenda he ran and won on (didn't happen)? Then yes. Boot em.
May 27, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Yeah, they passed the "Inflation Reduction Act" which anybody can look up. That was basically the neutered "Build Back Better". And they passed some ok recovery stuff in reconciliation. But by mid-2021, Schumer had decided to just capitulate and then it was just about managing expectations downward.
May 27, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Unless you whip him, which an effective Majority Leader can do. His daughter blatantly committed securities fraud; dangle that under DOJ's nose if he wants to increase child poverty. Kick him off committees. Whatever. Biden's whole thing was "I can make deals in Senate" (file not found). Twas BS.
May 27, 2025 at 7:13 PM
They passed a hobbled version of Biden's "Build Back Better" Act, and in the process failed to even renew the child tax credit (which had, in under a year, cut child poverty in half). They made a calculated decision to revive child poverty.

Raising the minimum wage above $7.25 and passing Joe Biden's legislative agenda is "socialism" now. Interesting
May 27, 2025 at 7:04 PM
Like between 2021-2023 when the Democrats had a majority in the Senate and House but wouldn't pass anything because of the filibuster threat and the powerless parliamentarian who the Republicans now completely ignore?

The government never appealed the 2019 order granting withholding of removal. If you have a problem with that, take it up with whomever was president in 2019. He wasn't convicted of domestic violence and it's not deportable necessarily. Look man. You want the guy out? Go through the damn process.
