Today I’m thinking about Julius Hollis, who has been the victim of traffic violence not once, but TWICE in his life. He was hit by a driver at four years old and “had to re-learn to walk.”

On the side - learning about an early legend, Clarence Pickard, who rode the first RAGBRAI in his 70s and for many years thereafter to “demonstrate that older people who still had good health could do anything anyone else could do.”

He was killed by a motorist in 1982.

Only logged 170 of the 500 miles, but the freedom of enjoying the entire travel lane with virtually no vehicle traffic was unbeatable. Allows you to do this:
