To the hundreds of you that have already trained to join our Brigadas Cuidando el Camino, we thank you. Not just for hitting the streets, but for showing us a path toward the North Carolina that we all want for each other.

From a bookseller’s POV, it’s hard to think of a writer who wrote so much, was lauded so often, who has disappeared more completely from readers’ thoughts than Updike. In 9 years at what passes for a literary Barnes & Noble (between Duke & UNC), I’ve never heard the word “Updike.”
