5 chances created from Florian Wirtz tonight - more than any player in the match.

16 chances created in his first 4 Champions League games for Liverpool - the most any #LFC player has created over a run of 4 Champions League apps on Opta's records.

A win! An actual win!

I look at how Aston Villa played into Liverpool's hands on Saturday, Mo Salah's 250 goals, and when was the last time #LFC only made 1 substitution in a match?

Aston Villa are the 10th club Mo Salah has scored 10+ goals against for #LFC (also Arsenal, Bournemouth, Brighton, Man City, Man Utd, Newcastle, Southampton, Spurs, West Ham).

He's just the 2nd Liverpool player to score 10+ goals against 10+ sides, after Ian Rush (11).

Liverpool have lost 6 of their last 7 games in all competitions.

It's only the second time in the last 70 years that they've lost 6 times in any run of 7 games within a single season, after September-October 2009 under Rafa Benítez.

Amara Nallo is the first Liverpool player in history to be red carded in back-to-back appearances for the club. #LFC

Mo Salah has now started each of Liverpool's last 50 Premier League games.

507 - Liverpool's opponents have played 507 long passes against them in the Premier League this season, accounting for 20.3% of their passes. This is both the highest total and ratio faced by any side in the division in 2025-26. Style.

Florian Wirtz leads all Premier League players in all competitions in 2025-26 for:

Chances created (29)
Open play chances created (26)
Expected assists (3.0)

He is still top for chances created when making it per 90 among all players with 200+ mins (3.1). #LFC

Curtis Jones completed 122 of his 127 passes tonight - the most on Opta's records (from 2003-04) by a Liverpool player in a single Champions League game. #LFC

Tonight was Federico Chiesa's 22nd appearance for Liverpool in all competitions - none of which have been drawn (W14 L8).

This is now an all-time club record for longest start to a player's #LFC career without a draw - surpassing a record set in 1895-96 by George Allan (21).

Hugo Ekitike is only the 7th player in the last 60 years to score in at least 5 of his first 8 starts for Liverpool in all comps:

Kenny Dalglish (6)

Ronny Rosenthal (6)
Don Hutchison (5)
Mo Salah (6)
Diogo Jota (5)

Found this one hard to write.

But here's a free 1,600+ words where I identify 7 trends of Liverpool's current run of defeats to try rationalise things.

Time for some positive numbers on Gakpo and Chiesa also in my latest Substack post.

Since the start of last season, Liverpool have conceded 2+ goals in 16 matches away from Anfield - no current Premier League side has done so more times outside their home ground in this time.

Liverpool face Crystal Palace this weekend, who are unbeaten in 17 all comps.

It's the longest unbeaten run Liverpool have faced in the Premier League since Man City, March 2024 (20).

#LFC have only won one of last 9 league games against sides on 17+ game unbeaten runs (D6 L2).

Last night, Giovanni Leoni completed 88 passes - the most by a player on their Liverpool debut since Andy Robertson v Crystal Palace in August 2017 (92).

Also won 4/5 duels, and no #LFC player made more interceptions (3) or clearances (6).

Horrible news on his injury.
