Interesting point. Perhaps its real purpose is an incentive to decrease the cost of Energy. This would certainly coincide with the interests of AI. I wonder if it's "artificial scarcity" holds up against deflationary principals of technology, in which value is a gradient arbitrage of energy costs.

Along with Shenghes "Greenland Minerals" Rare Earth mine, China had planned to build an airport on Greenland, which would have opened the door to a Chinese military presence on the doorstep of the Americas. Much like the US maintains along the entire pacific rim of asia. www.dw.com/en/greenland...
