What I find depressing is the complete absence of demand side levers. I.e. mandate levels of training of apprentices in key roles. Otherwise, sectors will always turn to migration or failures in the 'supply side' as the reason for a lack of skills.Who will build Britain? - on.ft.com/3XbdRqu via @FT

Lack of clout and urgency for whom? Always the presumption of supply side failings, which the state can choose to fix since it can have any levers it wants. Whereas the demand side passes quietly by.
