Here's the kicker.

Quotes are from Ross Barkan's "The Outer Borough Mind." Excellent read.

Were one to quantify the ~Untapped Potential~ of NYC's Democratic Electorate (the largest gaps between registration and electorate), the top-25 neighborhoods would almost exclusively be Millennials in the Bronx and Gen-Z in Manhattan.

If you want to understand how older voters (65+) dominate the Democratic electorate in New Yor City, look at this chart:

Traditionally, the left performs best in Millennial-heavy strongholds where college-educated voters drive turnout.

However, could the right candidate activate younger voters beyond the familiar gentrifying neighborhoods, and reshape the local electorate in the process?

In 2021, several diverse neighborhoods (“Battleground States”) were decided by relatively-close margins, critical in a close contest.

Crucially, almost every neighborhood listed below — split between Adams and Garcia four years ago — was convincingly won by Andrew Cuomo in 2018.

In neighborhoods where Michael Bloomberg once excelled, Andrew Cuomo is well-positioned to expand his coalition beyond that of Eric Adams.

"The Garcia–Cuomo voter remains the determinate variable as to whether or not the former Governor will reach City Hall."

Andrew Cuomo’s prohibitive (early) lead in the Bronx (+36) goes hand-in-hand with his strong standing amongst Latino voters (+23), and those without a college degree (+38). When comparing the past performances of Cuomo & Adams, their standing amongst Hispanic communities is similar.

Older Black voters — spanning class (renters, cooperators, homeowners) and national origin (African Americans and Afro-Caribbeans) — along with Orthodox and Hasidic Jews, formed the foundation of the Eric Adams coalition, four years ago.

[Spider-Man Meme] They’re the same picture! Well… almost — but we’ll get to that later.

LEFT: Garcia (GREEN) vs. Adams (BLUE) — 2021

RIGHT: Cuomo Below Avg. (GREEN) vs. Above Avg. (BLUE) — 2018
