Just Home has faced opposition by NIMBYs who have attempted to pit the housing needs of vulnerable New Yorkers against each other - even as they opposed or downsized other housing proposals in our district.

On September 18, the NYC Council will finally hold a hearing on this project, which will provide permanent, supportive housing for the formerly incarcerated with complex medical needs.

Some folks may recall the famed "Trump - AOC" voter - Yahay endorsed Trump at this same press conference in 2024, and then recently expressed dismay when Trump reimposed travel restrictions on Yemen. Trump said he was going to do this before his reelection.

In light of recent events, I'm just thinking back to this Trump endorsement press conference in Little Yemen in the Bronx, where "peace" was a major theme. I think it may have aged a little poorly.
