The first ESPN press release with Lee Corso’s name, as he called the 1983 Citrus Bowl. A legendary lineup that included Paul Maguire, Bud Wilkinson, Ray Scott and Jim Simpson.

When we did a long-term extension of Chris Berman in 1993 he loved that the deal went to 2001. At his suggestion we made a space odyssey visual to go along with the news.

The precursor of SportsCenter was “Sports Only”, a daily show @Bill_ESPN created in 1976 on a UHF channel in Hartford. Both shows launched Sept 7, three years apart. Researching the documentary about ESPN’s launch, I uncovered this gem from the Springfield Republican.

With today’s debut of SC+, the latest chapter in the SportsCenter franchise, a flashback to SportsCenter Plus in 1981. @DickieV is still smiling.
