Maybe! The Avatar effect. But I think there's something more cynical and lazy going on. It's an easy way to get clicks and engagement.

Also... time worked differently then? I was a kid when I saw TNBC at the cinema, then a teenager when it popped up in Kingdom Hearts. That didn't feel like 'rediscovery'.

Yeah, I wonder if what's actually being 'forgotten' is... how pop culture was able to idle in the background of the popular consciousness. TNBC got a historic Oscar nomination; Selick made James and the Giant Peach only a few years later; Burton was possibly the biggest name of the decade.

There's undeniable wizardry behind many of these accounts, but the platforms demand that the hook and the edit are prioritised above all else. It's great to see all the comments underneath posts about these films but you've got to wonder if they're actually inspiring any meaningful engagement.

Hi Jim! We're still working on this, so the big list hasn't been announced yet. The project wraps up early next year and there will be some launch activity then. Sarah's our press manager if you want to be kept in the loop: Sarah.Bemand@bfi.org.uk

I am approximately several thousand years old in film critic years, so it's nice to still be doing new stuff - and very amusing that I was brought in to review something so barmy and Beatley.
