"they disagreed with him, and he concluded they were insane and needed to learn how to think better."

Best description of the so-called "Rationalist" community I've ever read.

I felt the exact same when Cornell capitulated, but you expressed everything so eloquently. Thank you for putting our feelings into words.

If the next Democratic presidential candidate doesn't promise to refund these extorted funds, I hope every university sues to recover what has effectively been stolen from them. I'm not sure how well that would work, but I want them to do SOMETHING.

I'm sorry, did you say 'bathtub carp?'
This is a rhetorical question, I do NOT want to know more!

It's just like his confusion between 'seeking asylum' and 'insane asylum.' No reporter is brave enough to ask him directly because it would expose his stupidity, but we all know it's true!

The key thing to teach people is YouTube don't care as much what you like or dislike, it cares about what you watch. It's not enough to mark dislike, the algorithm is still going to feed you more ragebait to get those sweet, sweet views!

I think that's why Reginald says he's not getting the lines right.

The MAGA hats I understood; people were just signaling their political allegiance. But I'm still shocked that I saw people wearing hats with "Deplorable" on them.

Well, that was fun. Who's for Chinese?

"they would rather leave the apartments empty"
Who's they? Almost all the fancy apartment buildings I look at in my city have lease-signing bonuses. They WANT people to rent from them, it's how they make money!

Those bastards!

I agree, what a ridiculous article. The general public does NOT need to know how to drive like a race car driver!
He even makes an off-handed reference to people who can't drive safely on their own, but doesn't propose any solution that would help them.

I agree there's not enough nuance discussed about how AI models obtain their information. Trawling the web and ingesting words and pictures is legal!
On the other hand, Meta torrented pirated books for their AI. I'm pretty sure that IS illegal, and makes people suspicious of other models.

I also think Steam sales have utterly screwed with people's perception of what a video game should be worth. Everyone who doesn't buy a game at launch just has to wait a few months to get it for $20.

My impressions:
Man Cave: Video games, weights, other 'manly' stuff. Maybe an implication that women aren't expected, so a bit weird?

Manosphere: Andrew Tate, Joe Rogan, and other 'influencers.'

Manosphere definitely sets off more red flags!

Would've been very close to the A line, too!

My local community radio station used to play those! Everyone in the car immediately stopped whatever conversation we were in the middle of to listen!

Andor? Tragic? That's the least surprising thing I've ever heard! 😀...😭

As long as you phrase it in the form of a question, I think you're good!

I'm a fan of Phil Weiser. It feels like Bennet wants to pick and choose his battles and Weiser is willing to fight on all fronts.

I understand paying for comfort and even convenience, but paying to have a computer run my life for me? To me that feels LESS convenient! What if the computer gets it wrong?

The part discussing comfort and inconvenience really resonated.

I'm one of those old tech-weirdos who still gets all my comics through RSS feeds, so I never miss updates. Thanks for keeping that going!

I thought you invented BlueSky to help mankind, not destroy it! Oh, I've got your number, Mr. Agnew!
