Longtime sportswriter. Z-list celebrity. Patriots, Packers, UK hoops fan. Longform game stories are my specialty.
Patriots would throttle the Raiders and Steelers now. Unfortunate losses but they were building blocks.

A college buddy of mine worked at the school radio station and got the news before I did. He called and I just couldn't believe it. It might have been the biggest breaking new story of my life pre-9/11. We thought he'd be gone in a year. Thank goodness for modern medicine.

The G.O.A.T. of sportswriters on a game for the ages. Thanks, Joe.

Grimmest and mindbendingly dumbest.

Such a clownish response. Pathetic really.

My first story will appear Thursday & I'll have previews for spring sports soon.
Come check it out. It's a daunting, but exciting venture and I hope you'll like what you see.

In return, you'll continue to get in-depth game stories and now that I don't have to write for print, I'll be able to do more features, historical features, etc., with the possibility of adding some exciting new things down the road. I'm also slightly broadening my coverage area

While my content has always been free, I hope you'll understand that times change and to keep longform game stories alive, I'll need some help in the form of a few dollars per month (or a discounted yearly rate)...

Thanks to everyone for your support. My heart is full and I'm confident that the best is yet to come!

And I'm not ready to hang up my pen and retire to the rocking chair just yet. I'm going to continue doing what I do best. I'm weighing my options going forward and after I get back from a well-timed, much-needed vacation to Aruba next week, I'll announce where you can read my content going forward.

If someone had told me back in the day I'd get to be a paid sportswriter for 25 minutes, I'd have jumped at it. To do it for 25 years was beyond my wildest dreams. It's been the great joy of my life. I am so incredibly fortunate.

I've had the privilege of working alongside some of the best writers, editors and management the state has produced over the past quarter-century, I've met so many great friends (and best of all, my wife) through my job and I will always treasure all of those relationships.

As you can see by these photos, I grew up in this job, in more ways than one. I've always joked that what I do "beats working for a living" and it's so true.

They, along with our longtime editor, Mo Mehlsak, gave me the support and freedom to cover local sports with a different, more in-depth approach, and the end result was a dream job and a product that was warmly received by the community.
