I love Jesus, and I love art that makes your heart sing.
If you need anything —literally ever— just let me know.
oh? wait i thought bent normals had to be baked textures per object??

contrast of B looks better to me

might just have to steal that and add it to my node library :)

i have a question for you too

how do you do your face corner normal transfer? I tried a bit the other day to figure out how to do it with no success
July 2, 2025 at 8:41 PM
using this to cut lines for shadows to encode shadows into the vertex color so I can ditch shadow-maps for my VR app

:)

ooh!! I know this one :)

just use an attribute capture! When you cut one mesh with another the cutter mesh face attribute will be present only on the cut faces :)

Here I'm doing some extra shenanigans to try and cut lines like the knife intersect tool, but the idea is the same.

sounds like a bug! make sure and report it so it can get fixed before blender 4.5 comes out

Any progress on this? I'm ditching standard shadow maps and baked lighting for my VR app. Already figured out how to bake nice hard shadows into the geometry but still need a face corner AO solution that doesn't require manually applying a modifier and using blender's bake tools. Would love to test.

kwrite maybe
June 23, 2025 at 7:35 PM
shader schema or shader macro maybe?
June 18, 2025 at 2:23 PM
i want to bake this into the vertex color alpha channel, meaning I'd only want it to be "face corner" in the sense that it can have hard edges where the mesh does. An option to split verts by hard edges and then bake the AO into the point would work great too (if it looks like this)

I'd use it :)
June 16, 2025 at 3:16 PM
what did you end up changing to get that performance boost?
June 16, 2025 at 2:44 PM
well whatever it is it's making me happy
June 13, 2025 at 2:38 AM
holy wow that looks tasty
June 11, 2025 at 5:20 AM
unfortunately i think this is the new normal for Internet videos in general 🤧
June 5, 2025 at 3:05 PM
lots of good ones! But mostly still hoping for lightmap support for multimeshes to merge (it's got its milestone set for 4.5)
June 5, 2025 at 3:03 PM
how'd you do it without the normals getting messed up from the flip?
June 1, 2025 at 5:41 PM
this looks incredible! I'm super curious how the shader works.

the VR app I'm developing for the quest has made me realize just how many "standard" shader tricks you can't use, since you aren't really able to read from the gbuffer depth or color without a huge performance hit.

How'd you do it?
June 1, 2025 at 4:05 AM
yes please
March 23, 2025 at 3:18 PM
couldn't tell you what this is but i know that it looks good

Krita. It's advertised as a painting software but it's actually a pretty incredible Photoshop alternative all around

I remember when I built my first PC 8 years ago and thought "huh, do I really need a windows license?" and then went all in on linux.

Never looked back my friend.
