I would recommend The Ransom of Mercy Carter. Mercy was a Pilgrim settler as well as my 9th great-grandmother. I didn't write the book, but it's a great YA book about often-untold history.

I always make 1,2,3 Cranberry Sauce. I c. Orange juice, 2 c. Sugar, and 3 c. Cranberries, which is one bag.

I tried to do everything right, but it was still an abysmal failure. LOL They sure looked cool on the plant, though.

There's a local queen who reminds me of Charles. Her name is Ann Howe. I love it!

We eat a lot of them. I grew them one year, but they were inedible. So bitter, but I've never felt my soil here grew tasty cole crops, anyway.

My tomatoes and tomatillos are still producing, but I planted collards and turnips a while back. They are doing well so far.

I just learned this year that they have corms that sprout. I thought it was all seed-related. They remind me of my childhood (There's a story in my 1st book), but I grow them now to kill Japanese Beetles. They can't resist them.

My tomatoes were on point as well as peppers. Zinnias and four o'clocks won for the flowers.
