RCMP already carrying significant vacancies in contract policing sector (www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/rsrcs/pb...). Policing across Canada facing serious recruitment/retention issues.

Not unreasonable to ask where are these officers going to come from?

We need a national policing recruitment strategy. Unfortunately fed gov seems to have no interest in fixing this issue:
