👋 i've had a crazy summer (i think we all have). i spent a lot of time offline. while i was away i created this spider-verse piece. i took an old sketch of spiderman 2099 i had and gave him the background he deserves. 🕷️

I used the model in my latest illustration, 'hot wheelz'! it was actually kind of a fun process of going back and forth between blender and procreate. seeing a change in blender work in the illustration was satisfying ☺️

my blender experiments did not stop with the doughnut! I modeled this mustang-esque car. I was inspired by hot wheels, one of my fav toys as a kid!

get a load of this clown! 🤡🤡🤡

last i checked we don’t do kings here in america. if you’re out protesting today, be safe, be smart and let’s show this clown we don’t want him here!

when I liked in Alaska I went to Kincaid Park in Anchorage and while walking around we found a moose chowing down. The lighting was cool so I captured the moment and today I painted that for #earthday the earth is something we should live in balance with, not fighting it. #pleinairpril #gouache

I love the architecture in the Bay Area! When I was living there I took so many photos of all the cool buildings and houses around there. my focus on this gouache study was more composition and tone than the details. I spent a lot of time today mixing paints lol

When I was at SCAD I would sketch this church on my way to class or during our breaks. My skills are in a different place now so I decided to try and tackle this building again, this time in gouache. #pleinairpril #nopleinnogain #savannahgeorgia

they tore down this barn near my old neighborhood a few years back and they wanna build a gas station there now. boo! that's super lame. So I decided to make the barn live forever! I painted it for today's #pleinairpril study. I miss the longhorns that roamed around there too...

in 2018 I took a day trip to NYC. not the best idea lol. too much to see and not enough time to see it all. I did get this cool shot of the WWII memorial in Battery Park. I chose it for today's #pleinairpril study. #gouachepainting #batterypark #nyc

todays #pleinairpril is from volcano bay at universal studios orlando. i got to take a trip out there last summer to see my best friend and I noticed these birds chilling on the steal beam. i took a quick pic. I thought the beams and pipes were perfect for 'industrial' #gouachepainting

I got to spend about two hours on today's #pleinairpril. I found this cool cafe in Marble Falls last summer. The lighting plus the cool signage caught my eye.

#pleinairpril2025 14/30 marble falls

The last 'aqua' themed plein air for this month. I looked through some photos and found this one. I really liked the way the sunlight was glowing on the hillside. My photos never do justice to how it felt in the moment, I tried to fix that in the study.

#pleinairpril2025 week 02 ‘aqua’: 13/30 sunset pond

I really fell into the flow state with this one. I started with a loose burnt sienna value underpainting and I had forgotten how much the underpainting can show through. I spent about 1 1/2 hrs on this one and I could spend another hour or two tweaking it, which I might do once pleinairpril is over.

#pleinairpril2025 week 02 ‘aqua’: 11/30 - beach bird 🏖️

I got another fun reference photo from Florida. I spent about 45 minutes on today’s study. Didn’t have as much time as I’d like today to work on this one. I definitely want to take another stab at this study on my iPad in Procreate soon.

todays pleinairpril gouache study is from a photo I took while visiting the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio, TX. I really wanted to push the warm and cool contrast with the koi and the water. Took me about 45 minutes

#pleinairpril2025 week 02 ‘aqua’: 09/30 - whittier rocks

I used to live in Alaska and in 2018 I visited Whittier and of course I took a bunch of photos. For today's gouache study I used a photo of some rocks with some algae on them. I liked the lighting!

#pleinairpril2025 week 02 ‘aqua’: 08/30 - panama city beach

Last summer I took a trip to Florida and while I was there I took some cool photos while I was there. I even brought my phone into the water (not a good idea) and took some shots. I spent about an hour on this one!
