I think Iran potentially could negatively affect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz or generally around the Middle East. They have the capability of some range since they can hit Israel. It would only take a few strikes to spook most ships.

There's a lot of super toxic discourse about being friends with women but honestly if you are friends with women you have a good chance of meeting good people. If you are actually friends with women, they likely know people whom with you would likely be compatible.

What you're arguing for is sophistry. People are rightly calling out that his arguments are ridiculous. If the academic enterprise is just bavel gazing then you should defend that. Some things are settled and arguments against them are bad faith.

I agree school employees affect attendance but disagree they need additional incentives. The issues with attendance are not from incentives but lack of resources. We expect schools to handle many of our wider societal issues (poverty, immigration, etc.) without giving them resources to affect them.

You seem to misunderstand the problem entirely. You can't seriously believe kids miss school because administrators don't try hard enough to get them to school? Absenteeism often isn't even ditching but tougher issues like transportation, bullying, family troubles. Less funds don't help those.

How would cutting school funding solve students not attending? You're not stating any mechanism.

So you think writing isn't labor? How about we cut your salary to zero and see if you'll still teach classes? I think you're not a very bright fellow.

Social desirability bias all the way down

Biden literally got twice as many votes as Bernie in the 2020 primary. His coalition literally was larger, that was a fact.

Yes, she defended it extensively. She is a bad person.

Sure you are clear in the paper but do you think you are clear about that in the title? I'm coming from a layman's perspective that you seem to be pulling a motte and bailey with your expansive framing in the title and clear caveats in the paper.

I think many people dislike the way you frame your results. The title is quite a broad conclusion to reach based on using only non-experts. Particularly since most people don't engage with poetry at all. Your framing continues the over hyping of AI capabilities we see constantly in the media.

I think a lot of those people are not very curious and literally don't understand economics or the process of creating economic stats. So since it conflicts with what they believe about their ideology and their experience they dismiss it out of hand without being curious about other's experience

Stancil can be annoying but his critics are so rabid and often dumb (like left NIMBYs) or they critique him in such bad faith that I often find myself negatively polarized into supporting him, even if I don't totally agree with his points. At least he makes good faith arguments most of the time

Definitely not viable, I used to work at a bank. Usually only 1-3k in cash accessible at a bank and 5-10 year minimum sentence for robbing a bank. Plus extra prison if a weapon is used. Only idiots rob banks. 90+ percent chance of getting caught

The plan would be persuasion. That as leftists we can persuade more people to vote in primaries and support better candidates. We haven't persuaded enough people to vote for better candidates. Obviously a lot of challenges face left candidates and persuading people but we still need to do the work.
