I wondered after reading the NYT story whether they were referring to earthen ramparts surrounding tents, or if Israel had begun to truck in concrete barriers and fencing. The latter would suggest greater permanence, but we'll have to see.

I wondered after reading the NYT story whether they were referring to earthen ramparts surrounding tents, or if Israel had begun to truck in concrete barriers and fencing. The latter would suggest greater permanence, but we'll have to see.

It's one thing to show understanding for Biden's decision, I certainly get it. I don't see how the below couldn't just as easily be *argued* in favor Trump's abuse of the presidential pardon privilege though. If anything, I would just point to Trump's past abuses for comparison.
George Washington pardoned people convicted of sedition. Adams for treason. Madison & Monroe pardoned pirates. Jackson for a robbery conviction. Lincoln soldiers who deserted. FDR pardoned smugglers. Truman bribery & fraud. I guess none of them cared about the rule of law.

That evangelical urge to appropriate our symbols and traditions and make them their own. Those that have come to Israel to proselytize have not exactly been met with open arms though. I'd be shocked if they've converted 144, let alone 144,000.
For 10 months I have considered writing something about Zionism and growing up in the red heifer, 144,000 Jews type of pro-Israel evangelicalism. And then I see discourse online and I realize…maybe I can do it under a pen name or something.
