Yesterday I learned that 3.5" floppy disks were/are called "stiffies" in South Africa.

Excerpt from the book Pascal Precisely by Judith Bishop: Disks are the most suitable magnetic medium, though some larger computers may use magnetic tapes as well. A microcomputer will have a hard disk drive built in, which will be capable of storing from 40 Mbytes upwards. On the hard disk will be all the system software and spaces for the user to put applications and data. The hard disk can be partitioned into sub-disks, and these would be known by the letters C drive, D drive, E drive and so on. For saving software and data, and for moving it from one computer to another, the most popular method is to use small removable diskettes. Most microcomputers have one or two such diskette drives, and they come in two sizes: 3.5 inch and 5.25 inch. The older 5.25 inch disks are usually known as floppies because they are encased in a flexible cardboard cover, whereas the newer 3.5 inch disks have a hard plastic cover and are sometimes known as stiffies. The amount of information that can be stored on a disk depends on the density and quality of the magnetic covering and most floppies and stiffies can store over a megabyte.

First TV anime probably Maya the Bee (regular children TV), first movie anime was probably "Magic Boy/Shônen Sarutobi Sasuke" (on TV), first video anime was Legend of the Overfiend where I'm definitely *not* posting images…
