I wish I had gotten the Hazel or Porcelain Pixel 9 Pro instead of the Obsidian

Allow me to post something other than tech for a moment. Not sure how accurate this is from @nytimes.com, but the Medicaid cuts after 2026

The Gemini widget has turned out to be the most useful widget on my homescreen.

Leaping over the new Google AI Mode widget added to the bottom half.

Explain the difference between these products to someone who's not familiar with them...

Good morning 🫡

Came across this article and graphic from financial times during some chill reading this morning from financial times.

Eye opening graphic but we'll see how things change tomorrow.

If the Pixel team sees this, I just want to mention how much I would LOVE the ability to customize my Google Search bar that's fixed on the Pixel Launcher.

I'd be happy to change it to AI Mode and/or Saved List shortcut

Here's what my app looks like. It just jitters from ExtendedFAB to FAB.

Thanks in advance!

I know it's Saturday, but does anyone in the #AndroidDev community know how I can get my app to animate from ExtendedFAB to FAB when scrolling?

This is it in a compose-sample project and for the life of me I can't find the code where this is in the repo of it to see.

My app is coming along! It’s actually really fun crowdsourcing tips and ideas. I really love the Android Dev community! Ass suggested. I’ll be working on the pages next. Polish will come way later when it’s ready for publishing on the Play Store. 😁

This makes me even more excited about Google I/O!

Building Micro.Blog client for Android bit-by-bit. Currently working on the Timeline, after getting the login working with the Micro.Blog API. I'm really emphasizing using Android's Jetpack Compose & M3

Not sure why the TopBar is so thick tho. It looked fine in the ChromeOS emulator. 🤔 #AndroidDev

I love the P9a, I really do, but I can't shake the feeling of wanting to grab the P9Pro from time to due to loving the glossy sides and weight. Besides that I truly believe that the P9a is the one to buy for most people.

I'd say about the majority of people (75%) would be fine with the P9a.

Some more shots with the Pixel 9a from the weekend

What does the "a" in Pixel 9a stand for?
April 15, 2025 at 2:33 PM
Apparently I'm in the minority, but I really like the shiny glossy sides on the Pixel 9 Pro compared to the mat sides of the Pixel 9A.

Shocker, but it just feels more premium to me.

Day 1 Battery Usage of the Pixel 9a on 5G and Wi-Fi throughout the day.

Top 7 most used apps as well.

Not bad!

Here we go!

Pixel 9a is here and I'm putting my main SIM in it. Packing up my P9Pro and putting it on the shelf. Going to use the P9a for a few months to see how I like using a low-mid range Android device.

Comment any questions. I'll try to answer them on my blog - blog.michaelbtech.com

My Pixel 9a should be here tomorrow. I plan on putting my main SIM in it, transferring all my apps, and using that as my main device for a while.

I want to truly see what the experience is like with a low-mid range Pixel.

Will be sharing my journey on blog.michaelbtech.com
