Yeah, missing alt text on an image would just mean they wouldn't know what that image was. It's just one piece of the larger accessibility story for the site.

Spot on. Many folks with vision impairments rely on screen readers to get around on the web. And so, the same development techniques that make it easier for screen readers to make sense of your website, also make it easier for other types of technologies to make sense of it too. Like AI.
