Here to catch up with folks. Hoping for an anechoic environment.

If you want a follow back, make sure I can decipher who you are.
Why not both?

I first saw this film right after its release, on a pirated VHS from my high school English teacher. Seen it in excess of 20 times.

I am 10/10 Gen X.

No reference to plate of shrimp?

I have the soundtrack, and a copy of Alex Cox's screenplay (RIP Alex Cox who just recently died).

I think I'm on team nadir. Advertising thrives on fear, and beautiful though it may seem, the ad is fundamentally about fear, and how the product allays fear. It should be called "I'm scared mum"

I don't know if the fact this is an advertisement is capitalism's apex or nadir.

That's fair. There was a mean bass line in the mix.

We did a thing called "needle sort" which was a sort of primitive data query using punch cards and knitting needles.

I was destined to be a systems analyst.

It probably does have a purpose, and I was certainly chasing that with twitter. E.G., I used twitter to reach possible guest speakers for my classes that weren't part of my insular network. It had its uses.

But for me anyway, it did more harm than good, in the net. I learned this only by leaving

I hope this is useful in keeping in touch with people, kind of how facebook was way back in the beginning.

Take care everyone <3

Bluesky is a reset. I'm being careful who I follow, almost entirely people I know. I don't see a need to follow big commercial accounts. I can get that news elsewhere. I'm trying not to watch my follower count.

On Old Twitter I was very concerned with number of followers, number of likes/retweets, and once they added the analytics button, number of views.

None of these things actually matters. It's false rewards that feed the social media platform far more than your own soul.

Immediately following the muskopalypse, I cut my twitter usage by about 50%. Then 75%, then 90%. I hovered around -90% for the past year and a half, and missed it less all the time.

Social media is not good for you.
