And the 50% or so who voted against Trump?

The big difference is that the first thing that Mamdani said was that he would be a Mayor for all New Yorkers.

Whereas Trump only cares at all for his supporters, and actively hates his detractors.

Well there's one thing it's reasonable to think...if they were OK buying him the election, as they no doubt see it, they will have no scruples about turning him out.

What does "approve" mean to respondents? Surely not that 89% of Republicans are pleased with Trump?

Is it really a reflection of how bad a job the Dems are doing?

Does the US not really have a concept of opposition? Just winners, and losers accustomed to hibernating for the duration?

Why is he still there? There can be no argument that he lacks capacity. The enablers are responsible. The GOP is a disgrace.

The Detection details tab says the threat type is "Miscellaneous - This is malicious software that could harm your data, computer, or network."

I deleted it from my phone but this is how AVG free responds on my Windows PC. I reported it as false.

The Android version was just a warning that allowed me to proceed. This was actually blocked.
December 14, 2025 at 5:24 PM
AVG antivirus has just told me your site looks malicious, and recommends avoiding it. Is this more Trumpery? I have uninstalled AVG.

Normal people don't respond to stress and poverty like that. The people who did that thought it was funny, like the sycamore.

More likely they'd blame Keir Starmer because millionaires are using social media and Nigel Farage to tell them they must hate him.

We won't have a democracy or a peaceful society while such unregulated algorithmic platforms exist. And if you shut them down it's "banning Free Speech!"

I listened to that, spellbound. So redolent of 'pork markets'. Hardly possible to believe she was PM. That Matthew Goodwin is a real charmer isn't he?

In my fantasy universe BBC tells his lawyers to refer to Pressdram's reply in the matter of Arkle against Pressdram.
November 10, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Quite. The BBC edited his speech to make it appear that he was inciting violence.

Which he was, and he did.

It was actually pretty dumb because the BBC didn't need to do it.

I'm glad Davie's gone but cross that it had to be for this.

The US is a safe country on the whole, but mass shootings are running at more than one per day there and so not worth reporting.

I think that makes the UK very safe indeed. Every wild assertion by Musk should be met with a comparison to his own adopted country.
November 3, 2025 at 9:36 AM
We should all counter it, not just academics.

To Mr Musk et al, your murder rate in the USA is at least 400% higher than ours in the UK. London's rate is about 1/3 of similar-sized New York's. It's MUCH safer here.

The answer can never be to take away human rights.
November 3, 2025 at 8:45 AM
The trouble is Ian that people listen. An old (70+) friend of apparently normal intelligence told me last week that he thinks Sadiq Khan wants to make London an Islamic state.

When it becomes difficult to know what to believe, the propagandists gain sway.
November 3, 2025 at 8:42 AM
What does he have to say about over 400 mass shootings every year in the USA?

The bigger the bull, the bigger and quicker and thicker the bullshit falls.

A third of the audience had disappeared after COVID. I wonder if this parallels pub-going.

Financial and property assets are very attractive investments. That way wealth can trickle down to working people as mortgage loans, which they must pay back with interest further increasing the wealth gap.

Alternatively they can rent an investment property.

And the result is the same.

The obvious problem here is in the measuring of somebody's "net contribution". Just think about e.g. care workers. If people are underpaid does that increase or reduce their contribution?

They know the price of everything & the value of nothing. Bigot maths.

It's the government that's doing it!

Bingo, Ringo.

It matters now to speak the truth even when you fear offending some of your supporters, or even hurting your own prospects.

I might almost forgive them if I thought they believes Farage was anywhere within the pale.

But like the spineless Republicans who enable Trump, they cravenly betray us all.
