I feel your pain James, the media's role in Scotland before and after the referendum was disgusting.
You can add that to the lessons.

SNP 1&2 may have been successful in 2011 but it's difficult to see any replication.
The electorate are more engaged and understand the D'hondt system better.
It's pointless now to try to persuade folk to give both votes to one party.
A majority of independence supporting parties must be key.

Jeremy weather vine perhaps, whichever way the wind blows 😊

If only we could harness that pent up anger and change it to energy.
Maybe King Charles and the Pope could have another prayer together for 'em.

It's all they have.
If asked why Scotland shouldn't aspire to independence they misquote purposefully.
It's disingenuous on their part, if they had a good argument they'd shout it from the rooftops.

I don't know any Global political body that isn't " nationalist".
The conflation of nationalism with right wing populism is an agendised exaggeration.
The Scot Gov welcomes immigration, is pro- minority groups and issues free sanitary products and baby boxes.
RW nationalists would be balking.😁

Yes the independence of the judiciary is important but does that excuse the executive from dealing with a political' hot potato ' rather than involving the judiciary and setting a precedent which will make negotiations in the future more difficult?
April 23, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Yes, you're right of course but why should arbitration be required to override elected governance?
It's a long established political body , surely it could've handled a niche question on human rights and reached a compromise rather than affecting the rigidity of law?
April 23, 2025 at 4:36 PM
The UK Gov can overrule , after all they create the law and the judiciary interprets it.
To pass a difficult and unpopular issue over to the judiciary is a craven dereliction of duty.

Same thing with me. I decided that during a thunderstorm it was maybe a good idea to reconnect that earth wire to the radiator 😲
A simultaneous flash and bang the second I touched it told me it probably wasn't such a bright idea 🫣

She's a Fairweather politician just like Sarwar and Ruth Davidson.
No where to be seen during rough times.
The media shouldn't allow them to cherry pick the interviews.

To be a " working class lad" from Cranhill Tory member is questionable.
To be a "working class lad" from Cranhill reform member there's no question.
He's a bigot.

' A thousand splendid suns' from the same author of 'kite runner' is a tragic but superb read.

The Monarchy would wither on the vine if their financial upkeep was dependent on loyalist support.
I do not believe they are as popular as reported.
Most people couldn't care less whether they stay or go.
