This season brings gratitude and reflection. Thanksgiving reminds me to honor the people who shape my life, and Indigenous Peoples’ Day calls me to acknowledge the histories and stewardship of the communities who were here first. Holding both with care today.

Equity in film begins behind the camera. When directors, producers, and funders reflect diverse voices, stories reach deeper and feel more true. Real inclusion means empowering the people who decide which stories are told and how they’re made.

Every time I meet a Girl Scout, I’m reminded why this work matters. Across Western Washington, girls build confidence & leadership, yet barriers still exist. But GSWW opens doors through access, mentorship, & programs that help every girl belong.

It’s not a trend to adopt, but a value to hold. Anyone can echo a message when it’s popular. Allyship lives in the choices we make when it’s not.

The amazing women in science who have paved the way for us, especially Black women like Katherine Johnson, Dr. Shirley Jackson, and Annie Easley, have brought us here. I will always advocate for diversity in #STEM.
