Went back tonight with a proper camera. Better but still not one for the portfolio. Don't know if I can do any better without a flash and I'm not going to do that to them. At least it looks like a bat, or possibly a batarang.

Silvan Dillier, one of the early breakaway riders. Wanting to put on a show at home no doubt. Very impressed with my camera's ability to focus, this guy was racing so coming towards me at 50kmh or so, yet I can still read his name etched in his sunglasses.

Saw a bat on my walk today.
The worst possible photo of a bat imaginable. An out of focus blur against the sky. It seems to have a body and two wings, but it’s so blurry it could be a moth or a bird, or maybe an oddly shaped leaf in the wind.

So this chap is a soigneur and his job is to hand out water bottles (bidons) and gels to the racers. Most countries go with their national colours, but the British team clearly decided that a big red cross on a white cross on a blue background wasn't distinctive enough.

Is it me or does this bike have the face of an angry samurai?

With the possible exception of round the world yachting, road racing has to be the worst possible sport for spectators. Sometimes you wait for an hour or two, then 150 riders whizz past and you go home to watch the race on the TV. 1/?

In case anyone is wondering whether the UKs recent Prime Minister change was an upgrade or not.
