One of the kindest, most helpful books I've ever read on #suicideawareness:

Why People Die by Suicide and What We Can Do to Prevent It (Vermilion, 2021) by @roryoc.bsky.social

I'll be showcasing this book in my Farlane on Writing newsletter on 10 Sept #worldsuicidepreventionday 🎗️

I found this when I was looking for photos I took in 2019.

Kristen took this one of me and my aunt Fleur Adcock 💙 when we went to see Lauris Edmond's plaque.

Good memory for today on National Poetry Day in Aotearoa

My sister and I read at The Undercurrent bookshop last night.

Sarah read a story by our mother and a poem by our aunt, and then I read my story 'Qiu Miaojin Is Still Alive'.

There was also some blues, jazz and juggling - fun evening!

Perhaps see you there, if you're in Pōneke.

Am reading a scene from my next novel that I turned into a story for RNZ.

Went to The Friend, adapted from the novel by Sigrid Nunez that I read as part of research for my UK/NZ-based novel.

I love the subtle humour, kindness & lack of sentimentality

Did anyone else spot Mozart's The Magic Flute at the start of the film? #writing #suicideawareness #Booksky

I love this line from Ackerman's mother:
"No, after all that, after everything that happened to me, what counted was kindness."
