But this is a home tournament for Japan! Surely they will want to select a strong squad to represent in front of their fans?

I agree that evidence has shown that Japan tends to regard the U23 Asian Cup as a more important tournament than the Asian Games.

This edition may buck that trend.

The KFA is betting on "continuity" and "upgraded players" making the difference at the Asian Games. That's a huge bet.

Glaring everyone right in the face is another approach. Replace the manager who couldn't beat your biggest rival with someone who can. Bet on that.

Lee Min-sung will be coaching the same team, with the KFA's promised "upgraded" players, against the same exact Japanese U21s he couldn't defeat in Saudi Arabia. This is the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, so Japan will now be the HOME team.

Who is to say that Lee Min-sung can beat them this time?

The 2026 Asian Games are 9/14-10/3. It will be the same problem for the KFA to secure releases for the "best" EU-based players to compete in another tournament in the middle of an EU season. That defense doesn't hold up.

The inescapable fact is simple: Korea lost to Japan's U21s at the Asian Cup.

I fear that this is how it will end.

My vice captain is Watkins so it's a but of a bad situation.

He was my FPL captain too. Sigh.

His name is now Jeon Jin Woo. He legally changed it.

Love how you post it after predicting wrongly that he wouldn't move. Great work brother.

You're wrong. He's going to Karlsruhe in the 2 Bundesliga.
