In central Ontario, we switched from gas forced air+AC to A2A heat pump+electric backup. Works really well.
Whole home humidifier works better because HP is on more.
3 winters; last one was a doozy with backup kicking in several nights yet still saved C$2000 vs final gas year. 6 yr payback.
