This is my first photo from my "Infinite Panopticon" series to be exhibited publicly. Fun fact about this piece: the graffiti volta the piece is named after was created by me 26 years ago when I was in art school.
When I had a solo show at the Art Association 24 years later, I thought about that moment in the summer of '98. That’s why I placed my own floor installation—pictured here—in that same upstairs room, as a quiet homage to the moment that made me an artist.

He also taught me the most important lesson I’ve carried forward as an artist: that you need to be able to talk about your work—otherwise, it’s just decoration.

That piece, and Robert’s dedication to showing us how real art could exist right where we were, changed the trajectory of my practice...
