These changes don't address many problems we found, e.g. parents cultivating sexual relationships with men online. But it adds some friction and I think the directional shift from Meta is noteworthy. Their main response to our reporting last Feb was that the onus was on parents and not the platform.

The new protections will block messages from ppl these accounts don't follow and hide them from "potentially suspicious adults" in search results and rec feeds, among other changes. Meta said it removed 135k accounts for sexualizing parent-run accounts and another 500k associated IG and FB accounts

Last year, @jenvalentino.bsky.social and I wrote about these accounts run by parents, generally for their teen or preteen daughters. The profiles often featured girls in revealing attire, and men frequently left inappropriate comments or sent nude photos.
