A very flawed, yet not entirely unenjoyable film, Alien: Resurrection certainly didn't resuscitate the quality of Alien or Aliens. It seems that both films loom too large for the 3rd & 4th chapters in the franchise--both attempt to clone their progenitors, yet end up twisted amalgamations of both.

Week 3 of Matthew's Monday Movies is finally going to be completed with the 2nd half of Return of the King. I meant to be more intentional about watching these every week. But it's okay. This is just a fun little project for me. Next week, I will be back at it with a new-to-me film

Kinda Funny In Review Watch Along continues with Alien 3 (Alien Cubed?). A more interesting film than yesterday's Predator 2, but ultimately, it falls well short of Alien/Aliens. It neither has the thematic depth or intimacy of Alien nor the action and thrill of the 2nd. Charles Dance underutilized

About to watch Predator 2 for the very first time b/c for some silly reason I decided to watch along with @kindafunnyvids.bsky.social Alien vs Predator In Review. We got three great films, and, well, now we're here. Surely it can't be as bad as I've heard, right? Right!?

Week 2 of Matthew's Monday Movies: The Two Towers. I forgot just how much I loved Fellowship, and I'm excited to see how I feel about this one. Tentatively, Fellowship, upon rewatch, is ranking above my memory of parts 2 & 3, but maybe I just forgot how freaking good this trilogy was and is. #film

Watched Alien for the first time in a while tonight in order to watch along with Alien/Predator In Review with @kindafunnyvids.bsky.social
It's such a good movie. The way the camera just lingers in environments and the score is so perfectly lonely, just one of my favorite sci-fi films.

For my first ever Matthew's Movie Monday: going with some comfort food. Fellowship is so good, and it was such a joy to return to after not having seen it in quite some time. Really loved the cinematography around The One Ring. Next couple of weeks round out the trilogy! #film
