Although member perceptions and media can misrepresent diversity & exclude voices of non-participants they can communication identities and political projects making them an important site for interrogation & research.

3. Crowd experiences in 'the queues' illustrate the role of physical spaces, awe (vastness, wonder, ceremony, and sacredness) and ordeal in creating and reaffirming identity, connectedness, devotion and transformative collective experiences.
