Du købte opgraderede plader til Flash Point? Dem tror jeg ikke, jeg har set.

Av, det var alligevel en del. 😄

And the official booth in the games area is right here.

It is amazing. Even though I can't read the books, I really enjoyed seeing the diversity. So many exciting things.

Rosewood Abbey is there! In a nice Italian edition 😊

As I commented after my first day at Lucca Comics and Games I find it odd, that Wizards are present here but not elsewhere.
With their additional presence among all their competitors the absence at the other major European game conventions is to me so much more odd

At Lucca there is an official Wizards presence. Here I can buy official limited edition D&D merch (and I got myself a limited edition t-shirt).
For some reason, Wizards is present at Comic Con style events but not events dedicated to RPGs and board games.

More interesting was the fact that Wizards were present with their own sales booth selling official D&D merch in the hall as well they had a separate D&D area in a different location with life-size D&D props and gaming area - and yet you do not see Wizards at SPIEL, UK Games Expo or London Comic Con

As I don't speak or read Italian, I had to go for some older stuff, but at least I got some old stuff to add to my own collection. A few modules closer to a complete collection of AD&D 1st edition modules.

But not only that. They have a flourishing scene with their own titles as well, several we seeing getting translated into English. In Lucca you get to see it all on display. I think I saw more titles here than at SPIEL or UK Games Expo. At least it felt like it (the Germans don't translate as much).

All the classic titles are there in Italian from Call of Cthulhu to D&D and Pathfinder as well as World of Darkness and everything from Free League. Loads of minor but popular indie RPGs are available as well. The Italians are spoiled for choice.

Of course at SPIEL they would not be the only game in town but they could easily be the biggest game in town. Though, it might still be the explanation as to why they are not interested in going to Spiel.

I see your point. I'm just not sure what the IP contains at present outside of the game? Wizards does not promote Baldur's Gate 3, the (now forgotten) D&D movie nor Stranger Things (which is the biggest IP at Lucca), but focused instead on the game itself.

I think they can get far - just as Marvel and DC movies seems to have a reach way beyond the comics (if you go to Comic Con London, you'll hardly find any comics, but lots of movies and video games). In theory D&D could do the same, but I don't think the current owners of D&D can do it

I don't mind that. It is merely the absence of Wizards from Spiel that surprises me. Why one half of the fans and not the other half?
October 31, 2025 at 7:31 PM
It does say something about how Wizards see themselves in relation to their fans. They go where fan culture is celebrated but not where the players convene. To me it is an odd choice not to also be at Spiel.

At Spiel it is all about analogue games with very little cosplay, no video games and hardly any comics. And though it is all about games, there is no official D&D presence.
In Lucca it is all about cosplay, comics, video games and popular movie IPs.
