i personally like the second interpretation in the context of this album, she is still the diva, the person in charge even in her interpersonal relationships (or at least it’s one of the ways people see her that she plays into here!)

there’s the subtle loss of religion that is a consistent theme in the music, she may not believe in this god (anymore). but you could also see it as holding on to only seeing herself as divinely made, she knows that other people can’t compare to her

being in a relationship saves her from the fall of her reputation, she doesn’t need to grapple with whether anything was her fault (yet), she gets to continue being indecisive (for now). she may never die but she has bought more time before judgement day
