But HEA/HFN pretty much always exists and is expected BUT it’s the emotional journey, character arc re: internal struggles rather than external & feeling HEA was earned by overcoming the obstacles that makes it pay off for readers when they pretty much know this awaits the characters.

More like they have things they enjoy & it doesn’t spoil for them to know in advance like only one bed, enemies to lovers, fake marriage/dating, so you say ‘hey we got that!’ and they buy/borrow to read their favorite.

Oh it’s sales for romance. Generally, romance readers have fave tropes & this particular marketing can be effective with this audience for that reason. Let’s them quickly ID if they want to explore more or pick it up. But as far as acclaim, I don’t think so.

I was trying to help them understand this is LAW in romance so they don’t end up crushed. Write anything that gives you joy, but please market accordingly & save yourself the agony, LOL

Oh gosh, I was on a panel about genre & I was trying to explain the HEA rule exists. This person wanted to insist that they were gonna write to break rules. I finally said write what you want, but don’t try to market it as romance without the HEA or the reviewers/readers will *eviscerate* you, fact.

Background - my first job as a therapist was primarily with children & women who were victims of sexual abuse. If you defend pedos & enablers, you can go fucking do one off the tallest building because I remember every pain expressed by my clients & my rage is incandescent & never-ending

Can you actually do that without difficulty? Banking keeps changing! I havent had to open a new account in so long. & when I’ve looked at moving overseas, they seemed to indicate you needed specific ID number or whatnot to open an account at their country’s banks. I am super curious now!
