It is a heat shield. It protects the floor of your car from heat from the catalytic converter. Vibration has caused a couple of disc shaped pieces to break off. The two 1 inch holes started as 1/4 inch holes, and the shield is split at the other hole in the back corner. It is a $130 part

Your first post was correct. They played bastards at 8:48 and started the first day playback at 9:00 with Atmosphere: Shhh. Left of the Dial followed at 9:30

That is fine. That is how ground wires are connected to electrical boxes. Stainless or zinc plated steel hardware are ok.
