While Alien is a horrific monstrosity driven only by an innate urge to destroy, Predator actually has a complex code of honor, and neither of them have any particular hatred for women, making this comparison a total non-starter. This situation is obviously like Freddy vs Jason. As you'll no doubt recall, the plot of that movie was that Freddy thought that he could turn Jason into his mindless servant, but Jason started to steal the spotlight from Freddy, making him feel weak and impotent. Don't cite the classics if you haven't studied them!

When this project fell to me, I went looking for a good source of prayers. A Google search turned up a PDF version of "The Book of Common Worship" published by the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America -- in 1905. It is a great publication with a large selection of prayers for just about any occasion. I found this one today, tagged "In Time of Insurrection and Tumults." It is incredibly fitting (sadly) given the events of this short time of 2025: "O ALMIGHTY Lord God, who alone riddest away tyrants by Thine everlasting determination, and stillest the noise and tumult of the people; Stir up Thy great strength, we beseech Thee, and come and help us; scatter the counsels of them that secretly devise mischief, and bring the dealings of the violent to naught; cast down the unjust from high places, and cause the unruly to cease from troubling; allay all envious and malicious passions, and subdue the haters and the evil-doers; that our land may have rest before Thee, and that all the people may praise Thee, our Help and our Shield, both now and evermore. Amen."

Johannes Voss's Gift of Orzhova. Something about the color and composition really does it for me. We don't get purple and gold that often. The striking pose makes for a piece that's beautiful as both a painting closely examined and as a game piece playing its role down on the table.
