Not a pet, but here’s a picture of a cute juvenile pleated woodpecker on a bigleaf maple tree in our backyard waiting for its parent to come feed it.

Status update: The blueberry orange Bundt cake is now out of the oven and cooling on a rack! Appears to have been a success.

What a coincidence! I’m about to begin baking a blueberry orange Bundt cake, using blueberries from our garden. Will let you know how it goes. 🙂

We have a bank of Nootka roses off the back of our house with a little meadow just below that the deer love to graze in. Just spotted this handsome fellow who stopped munching alder leaves to see if I was a threat. Check out those ears!

Here’s a video of a young raccoon stealing peanuts intended for the Douglas squirrels in our back yard. I’m having a running battle with this raccoon as I try to figure out a way to allow the squirrels to get to the nuts while denying access to the raccoon. So far the raccoon is winning. 🙃

Timeline cleanse: Bewicks wren feeding one of its nestlings in one of our backyard nest boxes, which in years past was used by chestnut backed chickadees.

We opted to join Bainbridge Island’s rally, which had well over 1K+ protestors. One of the speakers we heard was a Japanese American internee who, in 1942, was removed from Bainbridge Island to an internment camp with her family. Her closing words:

“Never again is now.”

Our Miss Moss snoozing in the sun with a crocus blossom behind her ear. She was a very good girl. She passed away on April 9, 2024, after bringing much joy and love into our hearts and our home for over 15 years. We miss her every day. ❤️

It really is this simple. Putin needs to pull his (and the DPRK’s) troops out of Ukraine and the war will be over.

One more picture from my window seat. I took this one during our descent towards SeaTac airport last night, with the glow of city lights shining through the fog and low clouds.

Here’s what it looked like from above tonight as my flight from Denver was descending to land at SeaTac. City lights glowing through the low clouds & fog.

One of the many reasons I prefer a window seat while flying is the opportunity it provides to observe various fascinating landscapes from above. Here are a few snapshots of Wyoming from my recent flight from Seattle to Denver to spend
Thanksgiving with family.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
