Both things can be true. The hazard is narrowness and litmus tests. Fealty to ideology vs solutions will sink you. I believe that’s why Bernie’s post-election diagnosis feels correct. Talk to people simply. Acknowledge that their pain is real. Trade righteousness for honesty. That’s the way to trust

The left is superb at virtue signaling, but pretty wretched at speaking to broader issues. Housing and inflation! People have little patience for virtue when they’re crushed by an economy that’s broken. The labor movement = everyone. Woke signals divide and tell people this isn’t about their pain.
