Said was a Palestinian-American literary critic and political activist. Born in Jerusalem, Palestine, in 1935, he was a Professor of Comparative Literature at Columbia University and, from 1977 to 1991, a member of the Palestinian National Council. He died in 2003. (2/3)

We are leaderless and anonymous, and therefore the MAA decided to change their rules instead of engaging with us and divest their millions of $$.

Let's not forget where the MAA stands when it comes to genocide.

If you’re a current MAA member, we call on you to step up and take a stand. Urge for divestment. Leave the MAA. Organize your colleagues. You do NOT need to be complicit.

The MAA endowment is tied to major BDS targets like Barclays, Caterpillar, and Chevron. Until it can prove otherwise, the MAA materially benefits from the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people. And they know better. We have made repeated calls for divestment. @medievalacademy.bsky.social
