Moving from a large blue city to a small red town, this is so apparent. My coworker is enthralled by time traveler conspiracy theories, fake immigrant violence stories, and to the surprise of no one he starts conversations with, "I saw this on Facebook".

Kind of, statements like this post have been common recently and this one was written in a transactional way. But if you're actually learning and it's not just a knee jerk reaction that's great!

How about learning 15m of Mandarin every day for the sake of learning a new language and being able to open communication lines to more people in this world, rather than just doing it out of spite.
Look for a local Mandarin learning class around you and find people to talk to.

It does, but I feel the same, and I agree! My partner and I have been trying to deinfluence ourselves as well. I went through a few of my feeds to try to minimize the amount that I automatically see and try to focus on pulling information towards me instead!
