Shortcut I use is make it look pretty okay in greyscale then choose colors close to those values in hsv. This book helped a lot with getting that tho

My wife and I got a turkey last year for like $8 CAD. I ended up freezing most of it and making stock with the carcass but it fed us for like 6 months between stock and having ready made meat for tacos and shit
