I always say that if you have to tell other people you’re a good person/good Christian, you probably are an asshole. Only say that you try to be, not that you are. Goodness shows through actions and how others think of you.

On the other hand it could be even sooner! Every body is different and there wasn’t much of a brain there in the first place. Plus I doubt he’s getting the same level of care one would get in a home. Too self absorbed to admit to himself he needs it.

He was a social worker at some point before he wrote Higurashi, so a lot of his writing contains criticism on how Japan has historically handled issues such as child welfare and mental illness. Honestly one of the reasons I like his work is that he’s not afraid to recognize and call out these issues
