Totally agree regarding old RPG's - but thank god never ones (and adventure point and clicks) went in a different direction. I personally loathed deadly traps 😅😅😇 I get that there is an allure to hard consequences but it's only fair imho if the player is in on it ♡

Hehe - I get it! I love consequences - they are very important! But I would always prefer a different ending than stopping the experience ♡ Bit let's see! It might be inevitable :D

Two reasons (but let's see if it ruins the format :D) So my target audience is 7-10 year olds - 7 yr olds are still learning to read and might feel a bit fragile. Second reason is that I always found it quite off putting when reading "Sværd og Trolddom" as a kid - It often felt a bit arbitrary?

Right... Oof, I really want to avoid it. I was thinking maybe structuring it more like an adventure game... where you can go back to previous places/pages - but it might be too "muddy" and complex...

Maybe three possible endings and you gather scores as you go and see which one it is ?

Ohh that's an excellent idea - thanks, Mads!

This is really nice, Fergus! Thank you♡

It's interesting to see how many will result in a "dead end"! I'm gonna try to weasle my may out of those... There should be consequences but no dead ends... (old mantra from sandbox leveldesign I live by ! :D) - I hope it's not a "must" for CYOA design 🤔
