If they cared about their base, they would run loudly and proudly on issues that mobilize them, instead of insisting that D voters need to be grownups and accept the rightward overtures in election campaigns are necessary evils, which, citation needed

His point was about making it clear and explicit to voters about what your candidacy and party represents that’s different from your opponent, and Dems continue to count on a smug “obviously we are more rational than the opposition” while hedging right in rhetoric and actions

So I don’t buy any narrative about what this race says about the state of the left in NYC that doesn’t treat a result where Zohran is in the final two with a chance to win as anything other than a hugely positive sign

And one candidate who is actually Jewish co-endorsed one of those two (hint: it’s not the one who isn’t an “existential threat”)!
