Grateful to receive my first Canada Council Materials grant!
Used it to buy moose hide from @CriesOverMoosehides (Kanina) for my students to create traditional dog blankets (tuppies) with traditional materials.
I acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts

Tan’si friends, An intro:
I’m a Cree and Métis artist, educator, speaker, and cultural worker rooted in land, story, and ancestral knowledge.
My art practice lives in beadwork, hide tanning, textiles, painting, and public talks-holding space for difficult truths, joy, and cultural resurgence. Tawaw!

Call for native beaders still open (Jan 31st). Took me 10yrs to find a teacher and learn, now I want to make the knowledge accessible within communities having these traditions with their dog kin. Pls share!

Got a few cards of my beadwork available this week. Great collectible art idea as each one is a giclee print, not a mass print. ☺️👍🏽

I love how my heart is filled after teaching an Indigenous person to bead. So much gratitude to be a part of their journey. Part of the Plant a Seed Bead Residency through the Vancouver Roundhouse.

My heart is full today. Two hunters took the time to learn how to skin their deer with me so the hides can be transformed to textiles. 💕😁

I’m tired of performative action. Quit buying orange themed items “in support of Indigenous” from large corporations. Be a real ally, purchase from actual Natives (not pan-Indigenous ones). Support disabled Native artists as they receive less care and have to work harder to survive.
