The Lausanne Monument in Karaağaç made me feel the sadness as much as the peace. The three pools symbolizing the seas surrounding our country were empty. The elegant woman holding the dove symbolizing peace and democracy in one hand and the symbol of justice seemed to represent our growing longing.

This lion smiles as he looks you straight in the eye. Time has taken its claws and teeth. They put him at the entrance to protect the Edirne Archaeology and Ethnography Museum, but apparently the wind has made him peaceful and hospitable like the other people of Edirne.

1493 years ago, tens of thousands of people were invited to the tribunes around this monument and slaughtered by order of Justinian I.
Subsequent emperors continued to cheerfully deceive people here for another thousand years. #hippodrome #nika
