You cite, Mr. Conover, and that sets you apart. Maybe I've just been around too many academics in my life (fair's fair, my wife is an English prof) but to me the type of podcaster OP is referencing is believes that because they themselves are presenting it, they don't need to show their work.

My thinking is: who says they didn't? If Holly reported back to the JMC that he was now piloting a ship full of radiation with a half life in the millions of years headed immediately out of any spacelanes so that he won't come in contact with anyone else I think you probably count that ship lost.
